Where: Belleville, Ontario
The National Youth Assembly is the perfect weekend retreat for Met Youth looking to strengthen their own relationship with God, by expanding their understanding of the Orthodox faith and by getting involved with local Greek Orthodox youth groups and initiatives. Whether you are already involved in youth ministry, interested in starting up a youth group near you, or just looking to learn about your faith and make new friends, National Youth Assemblies are the thing for you!
The weekend-long National Youth Assembly consists of three broad types of activities: educational seminars, social events and youth networking opportunities.
Educational seminars feature keynote speakers who are either Orthodox clergymen or prominent men and women living Orthodox Christian lives. There are also numerous youth discussion seminars which address contemporary ideas and issues from an Orthodox faith perspective.
Social events are often the highlight of National Assemblies and range from dinner dances and boat cruises to site-seeing trips and soccer tournaments. We believe it’s so important for Greek Orthodox youth to meet other young men and women who share the same faith…a solid foundation for new friendships!
Youth networking is an important focus of our Youth Assembly. It involves youth participation in activities like people bingo and paper carousels which are designed to get everyone mingling and in the spirit of sharing personal experiences with Orthodox youth ministry in Canada.
